COMMON PROBLEMS
There are many reasons why dog owners call upon the services of a behaviourist. Maybe there have been complaints from neighbours, or referrals from vets, or maybe they are at their wits end and need help, maybe their dog is about to be euthanised and they want to give it one final chance at a good life.
Some of the common problems I am called for help with include:
Pulling on the lead, fear aggression toward other dogs and/or people, dominance aggression toward other dogs and/or people, noise phobias such as thunder, traffic and fireworks, unsociable with pets, unwanted sexual behaviour, seperation anxiety, dislike of the vets, dislike of travel, lack of recall, excitability at the door, jumping up, tearing up the post, obsessive compulsive behaviour (excessive digging, excessive barking, excessive whining, excessive chewing, excessive licking, toy guarding, food guarding, chasing tails, lights, shadows etc.,), nipping/biting...the list can be endless as can the causes of these issues!
If you think you may need help with your dogs' behaviour then consult a vet first to see if there is an underlying health problem which may be triggering the behaviour, then call me! Don't let your dog rule your roost, if you are stressed out, you can bet your dog is stressed as well.
Results are quick although there may be a lengthy rehabilitation period but best of all you can still lavish your dog with hugs and kisses and even let him sleep on your bed or the couch if you want! Brilliant!
I am also currently working with a young lady who suffers from Cynophobia-fear of dogs who is making great progress. If you would like help with this, then contact me for details.
